Minister for the Environment Tanya Plibersek has made a challenging decision to refuse the proposed Toondah Harbour redevelopment on environmental grounds. She has found the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) prepared by the Walker organisation does not stand up.
Under the EPBC act, she is obliged to advise the proponent of her proposed decision, and to give Walkers 10 business days in which to remedy the shortfalls. She has announced a "proposed decision", and the response period closes on April 23rd.
In this time, she is asking for the Community to comment on the decision also.
Now is the time to thank Tanya for listening to the community, and for honouring the environmental protection commitments made by prior governments.
As a participant in this process, we'd like you to now show your gratitude and support for Minister Plibersek's bold decision in the face of enormous pressure.
